Price and booking

How much does a Duffy boat rental cost in Long Beach?

$125 for one hour or $250 for two hours, per boat. The price covers the whole boat, so up to 12 guests ride for the same amount. Split twelve ways, two hours comes to about $20.83 each. The pricing page has a planner for bigger groups.

My booking says “1 adult,” but I’m bringing more people. Is that right?

Yes. Peek, our booking system, books by the boat, not by the person, so every booking shows one adult. Choose the number of boats you need. Each boat holds up to 12 people.

How many people fit on one boat?

12 at most, and that count includes children and babies. A group of 20 needs two boats; a group of 30 needs three.

How do I book?

Online, any time, through Peek: pick a date, a start time, one or two hours, and the number of boats. You can also call (562) 598-2628.

What if we need to cancel or the weather turns?

All sales are final. If weather closes the bay, we move your rental to another day. If something comes up, call (562) 598-2628 as early as you can.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. Gift cards are sold through Peek in $50, $100, $150 or $250, or any amount you choose. See gift cards.

Driving the boat

Do I need boating experience to drive a Duffy?

No. The boats top out at 5 mph, and driving one is very similar to driving a golf cart. Our Dock Master takes your boat to the end of the dock, hands you the keys, and gives you a quick tutorial and a map of the sights.

How old do you have to be to rent and drive?

The renter and the driver must both be 21 or older. Passengers can be any age.

Will we get wet or cold?

The boats are fully enclosed. The windows go up when you want a breeze and stay down when you want to keep warm. In winter, bring a blanket or two.

How fast do the boats go?

5 mph at most, about the pace of an easy jog. The trip is about the water and the houses along it, not speed.

Are life jackets provided?

Yes. Adult life jackets are on every boat. Every child under 12 must wear one, and our front office hands out children’s and infant vests at check-in. We do not have vests for pets, so bring your dog’s own.

What to bring

Can we bring food and drinks?

Yes. Bring food, bring your own beer and wine, and bring a cooler. Ice is $7 a bag in the boat shop, and the popcorn in the office is free.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Dogs are welcome aboard. Bring your dog’s own life vest, since we do not provide pet vests. More on bringing your dog.

Can someone deliver food or decorations to our boat?

Yes. We work with local vendors who deliver food and décor for rentals. Call (562) 598-2628 and we will point you to them.

Where you can go

Can we cruise the Naples Canals?

Yes, when the tide allows. When the tide is too high to go into the canals, you can still cruise around Naples Island, into Jellyfish Cove, Spinnaker Bay, Marina Pacifica and Mother’s Beach. The tides page shows the next seven days of high and low water.

Where else can we go on Alamitos Bay?

Around Naples Island, into Jellyfish Cove and Spinnaker Bay, past Marina Pacifica and along Mother’s Beach. You get a map at the dock. The Alamitos Bay page walks through the route.

Is it fun for kids?

Kids are welcome, and the local sea lions make appearances throughout the day. Everyone under 12 wears a life vest, and each child counts toward the 12-person limit.

Getting here

Where do we meet the boat?

At Alamitos Bay Landing, 186 N Marina Dr #4601, Long Beach, CA 90803. Directions and the map are on the contact page.

Is parking free?

Yes. Parking is free, on site, a few steps from the boats.

When should we arrive?

30 minutes before your start time, with your whole party. That leaves time to park, check in and board without cutting into your time on the water.

What are your hours?

Mon–Tue Closed · Wed–Thu 12pm–8pm · Fri–Sun 10am–8pm. Hours can change with the season, and the booking calendar always shows the times that are open.

We left something on the boat. What do we do?

Call (562) 598-2628 with a description of what you lost. We are not responsible for personal belongings, but we will contact you if it turns up.
