A London Boat Rentals Duffy and its driver at golden hour, the sun setting behind the Alamitos Bay marina in Long Beach

Gallery

Real photos from our dock and our boats on Alamitos Bay in Long Beach: the fleet, the water, the occasions and the dogs. Every picture here was taken at London Boat Rentals.

The fleet

All 22 boats are the same 21-foot electric Duffy: a roof, clear side panels all the way around, cushioned benches and a center table. These are the boats you book. See the full specs.

On the water

Everything happens inside Alamitos Bay, from the marina to the Naples Canals when the tide allows. These were taken on rentals and around the dock.

Occasions

Birthdays, bachelorettes, proposals and plain good days. Food is welcome aboard, and local vendors deliver boards, flowers and décor. Every occasion guide covers the planning.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome on our boats. Bring your dog's own life vest, since we do not provide pet vests. Bringing your dog has the details.

The dock and the office

Check in at the office at 186 N Marina Dr #4601, Long Beach, CA 90803, then walk down to the boats. Parking is free, a few steps away.

How do you get good photos on a Duffy?

  • Go late in the day. The hour before sunset turns the water gold, as in the photos above. The sunset cruise guide lists sunset times for every month.
  • Raise the side panels. On a calm day, shoot through open sides rather than the clear panels, and the colors stay true.
  • Start at the dock. Before you board, get the shot of the bulldog on the bow and your group lined up beside the boat, while everyone's hands are free.
  • Hold on to your phone. A wrist strap or a pocket with a zipper saves a lot of grief over open water.
  • Frame the canals from the middle. In the Naples Canals, the homes and docks line both sides, so a shot straight down the canal gets both rows of homes in one frame.

Sunset's better from the water.

Be on the water for it.
